“Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?”

According to scripture, none of them ever met Jesus.
I was a JW for 20 years and I never knew this! I thought they were all Apostles! Paul knew of Jesus through his roadside conversion on the way to Dimascus after Jesus was already dead, and Mark and Luke were disciples of Peter and Paul.
I used to critize people of in other religions all the time for not knowing anything about their Bibles. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Someone out there please tell me I wasn't the only biblically-challenged-know-it-all in the orginization.

Throw Out Your Blood Cards!
by Coded Logic inex-jehovah's witness bled to death after surgery .
in 2006, riddell signed a declaration that she did not want to be given blood during any medical procedure because of her jehovah's witness beliefs, even if healthcare providers believed that it was necessary to preserve her life.. she later stopped practising the religion but her brother told hill she maintained the declaration because she had researched the use of blood transfusions and made an informed decision not to receive any blood.. riddell opted for the surgery after being diagnosed with symptomatic gallstones, hill said.. parry met with riddell before the surgery but did not discuss receiving blood with her as he told hill the chances of someone bleeding during the surgery were less than one per cent.. that meant the surgery began at wairau hospital at 9am without parry knowing about the declaration, although his anaesthetist did.. it was originally supposed to be a keyhole only surgery, but parry made the decision to go to an open surgery as he could not access the gall bladder through the keyhole technique.. during the surgery there was a small amount of bleeding, which parry was unconcerned about.. the surgery finished at 11.15am and parry went away to perform another surgery.
during that time, riddell's blood pressure dropped and fluids increased.. the anaesthetist visited parry during his surgery and told him "we have a problem, she's bleeding.

Ex-Jehovah's Witness bled to death after surgery
In 2006, Riddell signed a declaration that she did not want to be given blood during any medical procedure because of her Jehovah's Witness beliefs, even if healthcare providers believed that it was necessary to preserve her life.
She later stopped practising the religion but her brother told Hill she maintained the declaration because she had researched the use of blood transfusions and made an informed decision not to receive any blood.
Riddell opted for the surgery after being diagnosed with symptomatic gallstones, Hill said.
Parry met with Riddell before the surgery but did not discuss receiving blood with her as he told Hill the chances of someone bleeding during the surgery were less than one per cent.
That meant the surgery began at Wairau Hospital at 9am without Parry knowing about the declaration, although his anaesthetist did.
It was originally supposed to be a keyhole only surgery, but Parry made the decision to go to an open surgery as he could not access the gall bladder through the keyhole technique.
During the surgery there was a small amount of bleeding, which Parry was unconcerned about.
The surgery finished at 11.15am and Parry went away to perform another surgery.
During that time, Riddell's blood pressure dropped and fluids increased.
The anaesthetist visited Parry during his surgery and told him "we have a problem, she's bleeding. We need to bring her back to theatre".
He replied by saying "well give her blood", at which point he was informed of the no-blood declaration.
He quickly left that surgery and visited a sedated but conscious Riddell and asked her if he could give her blood.
She refused so a nurse called her parents to ask if they could override the decision but they said the declaration stated no-one could override the decision . . .

"It only works on special metallic surfaces, and the battery life is only a few minutes long. And it's tough to ride," the New York Times explains in a new video shot at Arx Pax in Los Gatos, California.
"The biggest problem for those of us pining for a real hoverboard is that the Hendersons and Arx Pax are admittedly just using this particular application of their technology as a publicity stunt. Long term, they're not actually interested in developing a hoverboard. The company has patents for building foundation systems to prevent earthquake damage, which is their real goal."
Personally, I find hovering building much cooler than hoverboards.

It's primarily about the events in the Eden narrative, which - if evolution is true - cannot be literal history.

I stand corrected.
Claims and counterclaims stand by themselves as worthy subjects of scrutiny - not the "character" of the individuals who make them.

Now I understand that both sides can keep wheeling out scientists from whichever camp to support their views and it doesn't really get anyone anywhere .

That's why I included links to Peer Reviewed Scientific Papers in my OP. The theory of evolution has passed academic muster time and time again. That's why there are litteraly hundreds of thousands of scientfic papers written on it. Creationism can boast no such claims.

Evolution and spirits

however one thing keeps me hanging on to the belief of a supreme spirit being; the existence of spirits.
i have heard countless accounts of people who have experienced frightening encounters with evil forces.

The child was holding grandmas hand the whole time it walked up the wall and fliped over. It's quite easy to walk up a wall and do a flip when you're braced against someone. No supernatural forces neccissary. Just everyday physics.
Also, black flies exist independent of the occult.
Stairs creaking are part of the natural world. Not the supernatural world.
It is possible that there was an ACTUAL man standing in her bedroom when she woke up. A naturalistic explination is far more likely than a supernatural one. Though, as she had just woken up, it was quite likely a hypnagogic or hypnopompic hallucination.
The girl levitating is the only one that I think would actually qualify as being "supernatural". And of course, this is the one where only once person witnessed the event. There are several possibilities here. The mother could be outright lying. The mother could be exagerating what she saw (during exocisms "levitations" are anytime a majority of the body is elevated, like when only your head and toes are touching the bead. Levitation does not mean completing floating in the air). Another possiblity is that the mother was experiancing some sort of psychosis. And finaly the last explination is that an actual supernatural event occured.
Out of those options, which one is most likely? And which one is the least likely?
Lying, exagerating, being mistaken, and hallucinating have all been demonstrated to occure. That is why those explinations are all known to be possible. The supernatural explination however, has NOT been demonstrated to occure. Thus we cannot definitively say that it is possible. And I'm going to put my money on possible events as more likely explinations than events which have not been shown to be possible.
*before you even try to go there, I am NOT saying the supernatural is "impossible". What I'm saying is that in order to make the claim that "something IS possible" you must have either precident or something of parallel comparison. Without either of those, you cannot know that a thing is possible.
